Mr. Jeff Goold - 2 - 113 April 2004
3. Section 4.3 of the Work Plan lists analytical methods proposed for"selected" soil samples but
does not discuss how the field staff will determine which samples to select. Shell needs to
provide clarification for determination of which samples will be submitted for laboratory
analyses and the constituents to be analyzed.
4. The Work Plan states the six proposed monitoring wells are temporary and will be sampled after
development. Shell needs to include the sampling schedule for these six monitoring wells
beyond the first proposed sampling event.
Regional Board staff concurs with the Work Plan provided that a response to the above comments is
received by 7 May 2004 or a minimum of two weeks prior to the start of the field activities, whichever is
earlier. By 16 July 2004,please submit an investigation report detailing field activities and sampling
results and including boring logs and recommendations for additional investigative work, if needed.
