Boust <br /> RE: Report of Destruction of Monitoring Wells <br /> Former Unocal Bulk Plant `,#0950 <br /> . . 2835 Navy Drive <br /> Stockton, California <br /> Dear Mr. Boust: <br /> -This report documents , the destruction of all of the monitoring <br /> wells at the subject site, in accordance with Kaprealian Engineer <br /> ing, Inc. ' s (KEI) work plan/proposal . (KEI-J92-0205.R4) dated July <br /> 6, 1994 . The former wells, designated -as' MW1 •through MW7 on the <br /> attached Figure 1,- extended tci 'total depths "ranging from 12 to :n <br /> feet below grade. The wells wr!re proposed .to be destroyed based on <br /> an understanding between the San Joaquin . County Public Health <br /> Services Department ._(SJCPHSD)- ,and Unocal that site closure would be " <br /> granted. Site ,background information and a summary of our most : <br /> recent field activities are included in KEI ' s Case -Closure report <br /> (KEI-J92-0205 .R4) dated July, 6, 1994 . <br /> On January 4 and 17 , 1995, .the seven existing monitoring wells (MW1 <br /> through MW7) were destroyed by fully drilling out the existing well <br /> seals, well casings, and filter pack sand materials. The. boreholes <br /> were then fully sealed with neat cement grout, which was placed <br /> from the bottom. of each boring tothe surface- in '-one continuous -__ <br /> pour. Mr. Harlin Knoll of the SJCPHSD was on-site for a portion of <br /> each of the two .work days. <br /> All soil materials and water from well MWS . generated during the <br /> well destruction operations were stored on-site in' 55 gallon drums <br /> (water) , or were cover-ed with visqueen (soil) pending analysis and <br /> proper ..disposal. <br /> DISTRIBUTION <br /> -A copy of this report should be submitted to the SJCPHSD, and to <br /> the Regional Water Quality Control Board, Central Valley Region. <br /> 2401 Stanwell Drive,Suite 400 <br /> Concord,California 94520 <br /> Tel:510.602.5100.
