Attachment 3A
Petroleum Hydrocarbon Mass Dissolved In D Zone Groundwater
Tesoro Stockton Terminal
Pon of Stockton
Stockton.California
Notes:1) The initial area of the dissolved plume was based on a very conservative assumption of the maximum radius of influence of injection
well TS/MW-3D.
(2) Site sediments are composed primarily of Gay and sift with some sand. Typical values for porosity in clay is 0.01 to 0.20. Typical
values for porosity in silt is 0.01 to 0.30. Typical values for porosity in fine sand is 0.10 to 0.30. The ASTM RBCA Standard(ASTM,
1995)includes a default value of 0.38(to be used primadly for unconsolidated sediments). To provide a conservative estimate,a
porosity value of 0.30 was used in the calculations below.
(3) The height of the water column was calculated based on a very conservative assumption of the maximum radius of influence of
injection well TS/MW-30.
(4) When analyte was below method reporting limits(MRL),the MRL was used as the concentration.
(5) A very conservative estimate of the mass was calculated using the first quarter 2009 concentrations from well TS/MW-3D. Other
concentrations were provided for comparison.
Groundwater Concentrations
TPH9 TPHd Benzene Toluene Ethylbenzene xylenes MTBE
WOIL) WVL) WILL) (PBIL) (PH(L) (P91L) (OWL)
TS/MW-20 11107M 4,900 1400 2,500 14 9.1 37 9.e
TS/MW-2D 02/04/05 790 1]00 120 1.1 X070 23 14
TS/MW-3D 11/07/09 360 390t40 1.1 W.50 2.9 2.2
TS/MW-3D 02/04/06 9,700 ;000 4,600 36 6.6 g4 20
Radius of Plume= 20 0 Density TPHg 6,1 lbs/gallon
Area of Plume= 1256.64 h7 Benzene 7.34 lbs/gallon
Toluene 7.2 lbs/gallon
Ethylbenzene 7.2 lbs/gallon
Xylenes 7.2 lbs/gallon
MTBE 6.18 lbs/gallon
TPHd 7.1 lbs/gallon
P-A(ft')x H(ft)x N x(7.481 gallons/ft)x (3.785 liters/gallon)x(X mgll)x(tb/453,592 mg)
CONTAMINANT TPHg Benzene Toluene Ethylbenzene Xylenes MTBE TPHd
X-CONTAMINANT CONCENTRATION(mg/L) = 8.700 4.600 0.036 0.006 0.064 0.020 2.000
N.POROSITY = 0.3 0.3 0.3 0.3 0.3 0.3 0.3
A-IMPACTED AREA(W2) = 1,257 1,257 1,257 1,257 1,257 1,257 1,257
H-HEIGHT OF IMPACTED AREA(11) = 15 15 15 15 15 15 15
V-VOLUME OF IMPACTED AREA(W3) = 18.850 18.850 18,850 18,850 18,850 18,850 18,850
P-POUNDS OF CONTAMINANT(lbs) = 3.071 1.624 0.013 0.002 0.023 0.007 0.706
(gallons) 0.504 0.221 0.002 0.000 0.003 0.001 0.099
Initial Estimated Total Mass of Dissolved Hydrocarbons: 5.446 pounds
Initial Estimated Volume of Dissolved Hydrocarbons: 0.831 gallons
rk ucstmwwe swan calwres ore—W amt cw meu oke 2009..is P"101
