The Work Plan proposes one
groundwater monitoring well below 90 feet below ground surface to delineate the vertical extent of
petroleum hydrocarbon pollution. STTC will determine if additional monitoring wells are needed to
further delineate the vertical extent or to delineate the lateral extent of pollution in the zone monitored
by the proposed monitoring well. For further definition of the C and D water bearing zones, the Work
Plan proposes the installation of one off-site well pair to monitor these zones. On 8 November 2004,
Regional Board staff received revised Figure 1 and revised Figure 6 for the Work Plan. The Ozone
Start-Up Report discusses the results of the ozone sparge well installation activities, installation of the
two ozone sparge systems, and the ozone system monitoring program.
Regional Board staff has the following comments on the Monitoring Report and the Ozone Start-Up
Report:
1. The Monitoring Report includes a contingency plan for both the A and B water bearing zones mi
the event that"concentrations have increased by one order of magnitude over historical
concentrations for three consecutive quarters after the anticipated spike period."
