Ms Duarte 2 15 May 1995
As noted in the memo, we have some specific concerns about the placement of screen intervals in
the SVE wells (as proposed, the screens will be totally or partially inundated most of the year)and
about the frequency of collection of soil samples in the borings. Samples should be collected and
characterized continuously throughout the test borings, and/or the trench walls should be
completely logged.
Aside from reservations about the efficacy of the proposed technologies,we have no major
concerns about the proposed workplan. The time schedule you have submitted is acceptable, and
we will expect to receive a report on the test results in the fust week of October, 1995.
Please respond to the points raised in this letter and memo by 15 June 1995. Also, please keep us
informed about the suitability of site conditions for initiating work and inform us at least three
working days in advance of beginning the.field work so that we may observe if desired.
If you have any questions please call me at(916)255-3119.
GAIL WIGGETT, C.E.G.
Associate Engineering Geologist
Waste Discharge to Land/AST Unit
GJW: gw
cc: Ms Diane Hinson, San Joaquin County Public Health
Mr. Alexander Krygsman, Port of Stockton
Mr. Kyle Mullins, ST Services
Mr. Robert Donovan,Tesoro Marketing, Refining, and Supply Company
Ms Marilyn Guthrie, ARCO Products Company
Mr. Steven McDonald, Luce, Forward, Hamilton, and Scripps
Mr. Terry Bonham,EMCON
