1
G. Gasoline Analysis
' Beginning March 4, 1988, samples of product have
been regularly collected from test pits and wells.
Daily sample collection from wells T3 , T4, T8, Til,
' T12, SP2 and SP3 began on March 8 . Samples have
been tested for API gravity in the field then
stored. Selected samples have been subjected to
' laboratory analysis for hydrocarbon characterization
(by gas chromatograph) and lead, sulfur and gum
' content. Individual laboratory reports are
presented in Appendix H.
All samples have been identified as gasoline,
' although several have also shown indications of a
small amount (less than 10%) of diesel fuel. API
gravity measurements show a decreasing trend,
' indicative of weathering (Table 2) .
On March 4, samples of gasoline from wells T4 , Tll
and T12 had lead levels characteristic of unleaded
' gasoline (less than 0. 05 gm/gallon or 13 .2 mg/1) . A
sample from T3 on March 4 had a much higher level,
' indicative of leaded gasoline. Samples from T3 , T11
and T12 on March 18 all had lead levels indicative
of leaded gasoline. The lead concentrations are in
' the range that would be expected from "recent
vintage" leaded gasoline, subsequent to the January
' 1, 1986 0. 1 gram/gallon (26.4 mg/1) lead limitation.
' - 16 -
