' • • As of 4/04/88
' STOCKTON TERMINAL INVESTIGATION CHRONOLOGY
02/25/88 (Thursday afternoon) Time Oil personnel at Stockton terminal
' observed a "wet spot" on the ground where the underground line
from Southern Pacific Pipe Line (SPPL) joins Time Oil 's
header. A hole was dug and gasoline was found at a depth of
' approximately two feet. Terminal was closed, with last
shipment out at 5:35 p.m.
02/26 & 27/88 (Friday and Saturday) Time Oil personnel assisted SPPL in
excavation of SPPL pipeline. All six underground product
lines to the Time Oil truck loading rack were tested with air
pressure.
' 02/28/88 (Sunday) Time Oil began excavating to define extent of
contamination. Thirteen test pits (T1 — T13) were dug to a
' depth of 6' to 8' with a backhoe. Notes were kept on soil
profile and depth at which product first appeared.
02/29/88 (Monday) Product and water levels in the test pits were
' measured from temporary reference points, the elevations of
which were later surveyed. An additional test pit (114) was
excavated. A trench was excavated to a depth of 6' connecting
' pits T3, T4 and Tll . The trench was filled with gravel to
within 3' of the surface. Casings were installed in the
general location of pits T3, T4 and Tll to a depth of 101 .
' The trench was pumped by a vacuum truck during excavation.
Storage tank number 33007 (Unleaded Regular) was tested using
acoustic emission technology.
' 03/01/88 (Tuesday) Product and water levels were measured in pits that
had not yet been cased. The trench was extended to pits T1
and T12. Casings were installed in pits T1 , T2, T5, T8, T12
' and T14. The remaining test pits were backfilled.
03/02-04/88 (Wednesday — Friday) Product thickness was measured in wells
' T1 , T3, T4, Tll and T12 each morning, the wells were then
pumped with a vacuum truck and product thickness was measured
again each afternoon. Storage tanks 10002 (Leaded Regular) ,
10003 (Unleaded Premium) , 16004 (Unleaded Premium) and 30006
' (Leaded Regular) were tested using acoustic emission
technology.
' 03/08 to present
Daily product and water level measurements are being made in
wells T1 T2 T3 T4 TS TB Tll T12 T14 SP1 SP2 SP3
' SP4 and SP5. (The "SP" wells were installed by SPPL, along
the pipeline right—of—way) . Periodic measurements are also
being made in wells R1 , R2, R3, R4, R5 and R6 which were
previously installed in the Time Oil tank farm. Samples of
' product from wells T1 , T3, T4, Tll , T12, SP2 and SP3 are being
collected, tested for API gravity and retained.
' 03/29/88 Three additional test pits (T15, T16, T17) were dug with a
post—hole digger inside Time Oil tank farm.
1
