Santa Fe Pacific Pipeline Partners, L.P. J-6075.03
Lr January 6, 1994 STOCKTON WORK PLAN Page 4
Three soil samples will be obtained from each boring from 3, 6 and 10 feet
BGS. The obtained samples will be submitted for analysis of TPH as diesel
by modified EPA method 8015/3550, for TPH as gasoline by EPA method
8015/5030, for aromatic volatile organics benzene, toluene, ethyl benzene,
and xylenes (BTEX) by EPA Method 8015/8020. These analyses will be
performed by a California State Certified Analytical Lab under subcontract
to Hart Crowser.
The samples will be screened in the field for organic vapors using an HNu
photo-ionization detector (PID). The soil borings will be backfilled with
cement grout. All soil cuttings from the borings will be placed in DOT-
approved storage drums or a roll-off storage bin and left onsite.
Task 2 -B-Zone Groundwater Monitoring Well Installation
Hart Crowser will retain a licensed drilling company to drill and install a
B-zone monitoring well (M-8) to assess the vertical groundwater gradient
and determine the quality of groundwater. Monitoring well (M-8) will be
installed upgradient of the manifold/prover loop area in close proximity
to the existing monitoring well M-5. The M-5/M-8 monitoring well cluster
can be utilized for the vertical gradient evaluation (Site Plan, Figure 2).
Prior to drilling, the location of the monitoring well will be potholed to
approximately 4 feet BGS for utility clearance under supervision of a SFPP
inspector. The specifications of the monitoring well are based on
subsurface information obtained during the previous investigations at the
site.
A pilot soil boring will be drilled into the A/B interface zone
(approximately 25 feet BGS) and soil will be continuously sampled using a
2 - foot, two inch diameter California-type soil sampler fitted with stainless
steel sample liners. Each two foot soil core will be screened for the
presence of volatile organic compounds using a PID. Soil samples
intended for chemical analysis will be sealed with Teflon tape, fitted with
endcaps, and placed in refrigerated storage.
The pilot boring will then be reamed out using a 16 - inch solid auger to 25
feet BGS and a 12- inch steel casing will be installed. Cement grout will be
placed between the boring and the steel casing and will be allowed to set
overnight. After the grout has sufficiently set, all water and mud will be
