Therefore, all future notifications, correspondence and reports submitted regarding the
Site shall be addressed to Geoffrey Rader at the Central Valley Water Board office in Rancho
Cordova.
I have reviewed the 31 October 2016 Annual Groundwater Monitoring and Status Report
(Report) submitted by Wayne Perry, Inc. on behalf of Equilon Enterprises LLC dba Shell Oil
Products US (Equilon). The Report summarizes field activities and monitoring data associated
with the first quarter and third quarter 2016 groundwater monitoring events. I have a few
concerns with the Report, which I've summarized below.
1. A groundwater potentiometric surface map was not provided for 29 August 2016
monitoring well gauging data.
2. Monitoring and Reporting Program No. R5-2015-0820 (the MRP) requires groundwater
samples from several wells to be analyzed for naphthalene. Based on the laboratory
analytical reports included in Appendix A, naphthalene analyses were completed for
several groundwater samples, however, these results are not presented in the Report
text, tables, or figures. Please present these results in future reports.
3. In Figure 2 of the Report, monitoring wells MW-29 and MW-30 were given a symbol
corresponding to the legend explanation "To Be Abandoned". The MRP requires that
monitoring wells MW-29 and MW-30 be monitored on semi-annual and annual
frequencies, respectively. Please do not abandon these wells, and instead correct Figure
2 in future reports.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding the Site, this letter, or any future
correspondence, I can be reached at (916) 464-4707 or via e-mail at
geoff.rader@waterboards.ca.gov.
KARL E.
