7.0 RECOMMENDATIONS
Based on the results of Dames&Moore's Phase I Environmental Assessment of the subject
property, further investigation appears to be warranted.
• Because the truck wash drain that flows into the clarifier was backed up during our site visit,
and similar observations were noted in each of the previous consultant reports, the clarifier
is either full or not operating properly. The contents of the clarifier should be emptied by a
licensed waste hauler for disposal. The truck wash area is not currently utilized. Prior to
future use, the condition of the clarifier and evaporation pit should be evaluated. If the
system will not be utilized, it should be appropriately closed.
Soil conditions previously evaluated in the vicinity of the clarifier/evaporation pit area did
not indicate soil contamination extends into groundwater. However, Fremont may wish to
evaluate the potential for groundwater impacts in this area.
• Outside of Building C, American Modular Systems spray paints metal frames directly atop
bare soil. This practice has covered the surface with red oxide, latex paint which has not
likely created an environmental issue. However, the type of paints and materials used at this
location in the past are unknown; therefore,Fremont may wish to further evaluate subsurface
conditions in this area.
• Additional agency review should be performed to confirm the existence and proper
abandonment of the water well identified on the property.
RAMN\981CM.013 24
DAMES& MOORE
