File No. 20-3941-01.E01 kn KLEINFELDER
March 6, 1997
After collection, the soil sample will be labeled, logged on a chain-of-custody, and immediately
stored in an iced cooler. Kleinfelder proposes submitting the five (5) soil samples from each
boring (20 samples total for the four borings) to a State certified laboratory for the following
analyses:
• Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons Purgeable (Gasoline Range) by EPA Methodr'8015M/5030
[TPH-G]
• Benzene, Toluene, Ethylbenzene, Xylenes by EPA Method 8020/5030 [BTEX]
• Total Extractable Petroleum Hydrocarbons as Referenced to Diesel (TPH=D) by EPA
Method 8015M
The samples will be analyzed on an accelerated laboratory schedule requiring approximately one
week(five working days) for completion unless an optional 24 to 48 hour analytical turnaround
is requested by the client at an additional charge.
Task E02(a) - Drilling of One Optional Soil Boring
If hydrocarbons are detected in the field screening of the soil samples obtained in Task E02, one
(1) additional soil boring will be advanced (vertically) to a depth of approximately 50 feet below
surface grade(bsg) along the western edge of the canopy.
During the advancement of the boring, soil samples will be collected at 5 foot intervals and will
be examined for lithologic classification and qualitative field screening, with an organic vapor
analyzer (OVA). The OVA measures ionizable compounds in air in parts per million by
volume (ppmv). Lithologic classification will be based on the Unified Soil Classification
System (USCS). The samples may also be retained for quantitative chemical analysis.
Currently, based on your correspondence and our experience, we anticipate groundwater in the
vicinity of the project site to be present at a depth of 65 feet bsg. Therefore, at this time, we
propose to analyze only 5 soil samples from the boring (the 15 foot, 25 foot, 40 foot, 45 foot
and 50 foot samples).
20-3941-0LE01/207PE075 Page 3 of 9 0 1997, Kleinfelder, Inc.
