I also contacted Mimi Duzenski at the Board of Supervisors and informed her of the notification
and that I already spoke with you.
The affected Verizon building (6123 Pacific Ave) sits north of and adjacent to the Miller Trust
property (6025-6045 Pacific Ave). At the Water Board's request, indoor air samples were
collected from the neighboring Verizon store and analyzed for total volatile organic
compounds. The results of those samples (three) are attached. All three of the results for
tetrachloroethene (PCE) exceeded a 1 in 100,000 cancer risk factor for a commercial setting
using the CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF TOXIC SUBTANCES CONTROL (DTSC) HUMAN
AND ECOLOGICAL RISK OFFICE (HERO) screening tables. The PCE concentrations were IA-
VW-rear-44 ug/M3; IA-VW-front-23 ug/M3; and IA-VW-show room-30 ug/M3
The laboratory results are attached.
A final prop 65 notification package will follow via Certified Mail by the USPS.
We are currently working with the Miller Trust property in our Site Cleanup Program for the
investigation and remediation of VOCs at and around their facility/property.
If you have any questions regarding this email notice, please feel free to contact me. If you
need to discuss technical aspects of the project please feel free to contact the case manager Bill
Brattain at (916) 464-4622 or by email Bill.BrattainOwaterboards.ca.gov.
Thanks,
