CRAFT • • Levine-Fricke-Recon
continue to be evaluated in light of ongoing remediation activities occurring at the
Exxon service station. In addition, data collected from Chevron and Exxon
monitoring wells may provide additional useful information to support preparation
of the Risk Assessment for the Site.
Based on an evaluation of the reported abandonment procedures documented for
wells LVMD #1, LVMD #2, LVMD #4, and LVMD #6, it appears that these wells
were abandoned using methods appropriate to prevent vertical migration of
groundwater along the former cased and perforated intervals of the wells.
Consequently, these former wells would not likely act as ongoing conduits for
vertical groundwater migration. This conclusion is dependent on final review of
additional data that may be available at SJC DPW
Based on the results and conclusions derived from the public and private well survey,
LFR recommends the following actions:
• Determine the status of domestic wells located downgradient from Lincoln Center
T identified from SJC PHS/EHD and DWR records. This task will include contacting
the owners, if possible. LFR may recommend sampling these wells for VOC
analysis.
• Collect water level data from Chevron and Exxon monitoring wells during a single
contemporaneous event during a period when Exxon monitoring wells are not
being pumped and the soil vapor extraction system is not operating at the Exxon
site.
Collect groundwater samples from municipal supply well COS #11 for VOC
analysis. This recommendation was completed on February 27, 1997. Analytical
results of these samples will be provided under separate cover.
Collect split groundwater samples from selected Chevron and Exxon monitoring
wells for VOC analysis.
• Continue to request clarification from SJC Counsel and SJC DPW regarding the
discrepancies and omissions that were identified during the evaluation of record
drawings documenting the well abandonment procedures for wells LVMD #1,
LVMD #2, LVMD #4, and LVMD #6.
t
1
f
1
t
i
4111 WELL.AMJ:AMJ Page 21
