This inves-
tigation was performed per the work plan approved by the Regional Water
Quality Control Board and San Joaquin County Local Health Department.
The results of this investigation indicate that the upper water bearing zone
' is contaminated with PCE and TCE, which appears to have leaked through
joints in the existing sewer line and migrated to the water table. The
Tocation of this contamination is probably centered near MW #4 and LVMD #1 .
The direction of flow in the upper water bearing zone is generally easterly
' to northeasterly, and there are no downgradient domestic wells within one
mile of the site. Monitoring wells #1, #2 and #3 did not have detectable
PCE or TCE contamination. A sample collected by the RWQCB in January 1987
from the Chevron monitoring well located 900 feet downgradient from LVMD #1,
showed no detectable concentrations of PCE or TICE. Based on relatively
limited data, the contamination also appears to be isolated in the upper
water bearing zone, which appears hydraulically separate from the deeper
' aquifer.
Samples collected from beneath the concrete floor slabs and from the sewers
' serving the three dry cleaning establishments showed detectable PCE and/or
TCE concentrations.
It has been a please working with you on this project.
