Levineā¢Frickeā¢Recon
ENGINEERS,HVDROGEOLOGISTS S APPLIED SCIENTISTS
The groundwater monitoring wells will be used to measure the depth to groundwater and to collect
groundwater samples for subsequent laboratory analysis. One groundwater monitoring well will be
installed adjacent to the pilot borings at a depth that will be determined based on an evaluation of
pilot boring data (Figure 1). A second groundwater monitoring well will also be located in this
parking lot at a location to be determined based on the results of the CPT/PIPP and pilot boring
investigations. We will provide you with a proposed location and schedule for this second
groundwater monitoring well before it is installed.
The tops of the groundwater monitoring wells will be located below the existing parking lot
surface. Traffic-rated well boxes, approximately 14 inches in diameter, will be installed to protect
the new wells. The well boxes will be installed flush with the existing parking lot surface. Locks
will be installed on the wells to prevent unauthorized access.
Before field activities are conducted on the Subject Property, any buried utilities that are present in
the parking lot in the vicinity of the proposed CPT/PIPP borings, soil-vapor borings, pilot borings,
and monitoring wells will be located and marked on the asphalt to prevent any contact with utilities
during drilling. At the end of each work shift, any waste materials generated during the field
activities will be removed and the work area will be cleaned. The CPT/PIPP borings, soil-vapor
borings, and pilot borings will be backfilled with a cement-grout mixture when drilling is
completed. Upon completion of this field work, the asphalt surface surrounding these borings will
be restored to its original condition.
Field Equipment
1. CPT/PIPP Investigation
Field equipment for the CPT/PIPP investigation will consist of a drilling rig and support vehicles.
Two photographs of CPT/PIPP equipment used at a nearby location are presented in Figure 2. The
work space at each location will be approximately 50 feet by 50 feet, covering an area of
approximately 2,500 square feet. The work space will be cordoned off during the drilling period to
prohibit access by unauthorized personnel. Vehicles will be moved off the Subject Property at the
end of each work shift.
2. Soil-Vapor Investigation
Field equipment for the soil-vapor investigation will consist of a pickup truck mounted with a
hydraulic-push rig to collect soil-vapor samples and a mobile laboratory, towed by a pickup truck,
to analyze the samples. Photographs of the soil-vapor truck and mobile laboratory are presented in
Figure 3. The work space at each location will be approximately 20 feet by 20 feet, covering an
area of approximately 400 square feet at each location. The hydraulic-push rig will be moved off
the Subject Property at the end of each work shift. The mobile laboratory will be parked on the
adjacent Lincoln Properties, Ltd. property, behind Trader Joe's, between work shifts.
LC-ACCITLTR:IBA 3
