r L01 Levine•Fricke•Recon ENGINEERS,HVDROGEOLOGISTS 8 APPLIED SCIENTISTS October 31, 1997 - 4111.90-001 via U.S. mail TO: PARTIES ON THE ATTACHED DISTRIBUTION LIST Subject: Bimonthly Letter Report for August 1 through September 30, 1997, Lincoln Center, Stockton, California Dear Interested Parties: On behalf of the Settling Dry Cleaning Defendants (SDCDs), Levine-Fricke•Recon Inc. presents this letter report summarizing activities for the period of August 1 through September 30, 1997 ("the bimonthly period") at Lincoln Center, located in Stockton, California ("the Site," as defined in the "First Final Consent Decree Order, Judgment and Reference To Special Master," filed with the Court on January 19, 1996). The information in this letter report is provided pursuant to Sections IV(A)(1)(f) and IV(F) of the "Permanent Injunction Governing Investigation, Monitoring, and Testing of the Hazardous Substance Contamination at and Emanating from Lincoln Center and Order of Reference to Special Master," issued by Judge Levi of the United States District Court, Eastern District of California, and filed on August 16, 1993. Ongoing Data Collection Activities The following data collection activities were conducted at the Site during the bimonthly period: • Fluid levels were measured in Site monitoring wells on August 18 and September 15, 1997. A summary of groundwater elevation data for these months is presented on Table 1. • Groundwater samples were collected from Site monitoring wells from August 19 through 25, 1997. Analytical results of these samples will be presented in the third quarter 1997 groundwater monitoring report to be submitted to all parties on November 15, 1997. • Monitoring well MW-8 was repaired on August 27 and 28, 1997. This well was inadvertently damaged during surface repaving in the area. • Monitoring wells MW-108A, MW-205B, and MW-301C were installed on the Pacific Avenue frontage road east of Lincoln Center in the vicinity of the Bank of Stockton from August 1 through 26, 1997 (see Figure 1 for locations). • Newly installed A-zone monitoring well MW-108A (near the Bank of Stockton); B-zone wells MW-204B (in the Thrifty/Payless parking lot at Lincoln Center) and MW-205B (Bank of Stockton); and C-zone well MW-301C (Bank of Stockton), were developed and sampled from September 8 through 11, 1997 (see Figure 1 for locations). • Cone penetrometer testing (CPT) and push-in polyvinyl chloride piezometer (PIPP) borings were advanced and groundwater samples were collected at source area locations on Lincoln 1900 Powell Street, 12th Floor, Emeryville, California 94608-1827 • (510) 652-4500 • fax(510) 652-2246 • Offices Worldwide
