This investigation is
performed voluntarily and will be conducted concurrently with the implementation of LFR's
"Proposed Phase IV IRA Detailed Plan, Lincoln Center, Stockton, California," draft release dated
June 8, 2006 and final release dated July 3, 2006 ("the Phase IV IRA Detailed Plan"), as approved
by the Regional Water Quality Control Board in a letter dated June 30, 2006. The purpose of this
additional MIP investigation is to assess the need for additional air/ozone sparging wells north of
the Historical Source Zone and beneath Benjamin Holt Road.
Background information, including site history, previous investigations, and contaminant nature
and extent, is presented in LFR's "Revised Draft Feasibility Study, Lincoln Center, Stockton,
California," dated August 5, 2002. Additional information, including the findings from the
previous MIP investigation, is presented in the Phase IV IRA Detailed Plan.
The following sections describe investigation objectives; a scope of work; and data analysis,
reporting, and schedule for the completion of the additional MIP investigation.
MIP Investigation Objectives
The purpose of the additional MIP investigation borings is to assess the need for additional
air/ozone sparging wells north of the Historical Source Zone and beneath Benjamin Holt Road at
the locations shown on Figure 1. The investigation will involve the simultaneous collection of MIP
data and electrical conductivity (EC) or cone penetration testing (CPT) data and will yield both
relative chlorinated solvent concentration and lithologic data to better define and more accurately
assess affected sediments within and adjacent to the Historical Source Area. The overall objectives
of the MIP investigation are presented below.
510.652.4500 m
510.652.2246 f
1900 Powell Street, 12th Floor www.ifr.com
Emeryville.California 94608-1814
Offices Nationwide
