t
0 0
BUR
Following the collection of the MIP data, a Hydropunch sampler will be advanced to collect grab
groundwater samples at a minimum of five locations/depth intervals to be determined based on the
MIP's ECD results. The groundwater samples will be collected using a hydraulically driven,
temporary piezometer consisting of a hollow-rod assembly with a 3-foot-long stainless steel screen
attached at the leading end of the assembly (Hydropunch). At the selected depths, the rod assembly
will then be retracted to raise the outer piezometer sleeve, exposing the screen and allowing
groundwater to pass through the screen into the piezometer. Each groundwater sample will be
collected by lowering a Teflon or stainless steel bailer through the hollow-push rods into the
piezometer screen. The groundwater will be transferred into preserved laboratory-provided bottles,
stored in an ice-chilled cooler, and transported under chain-of-custody protocol to a state-certified
laboratory. Water samples will be analyzed for VOCs (full list) using EPA Method 8260.
Data Analysis, Reporting, and Schedule
The MIP, CPT/EC, and grab groundwater data obtained from the investigation will be tabulated,
reviewed, and interpreted to estimate the vertical and horizontal extent of chlorinated solvent
impact and the need for additional sparging wells. The results of this investigation and the
proposed location of additional sparging wells, if needed, will be presented in a letter report. This
investigation is tentatively scheduled for early October 2006. MIP investigation data will be
reported approximately eight weeks after data collection.
Please call either of the undersigned at (510) 652-4500 with your questions and comments.
Sincerely,
Lucas Goldstein, P.G., E.I.T.
