GeosyntecO
consultants
borehole. The surface of the boring shall be returned to surrounding conditions as
specified in Section 3.2.
Fourteen of the air surge wells are installed at an angle under Benjamin Holt Road
from an estimated angle of 10 to 35 degrees from vertical. These wells shall be over_
drilled utilizing a guide tool that follows the casing which will allow the hollow stem
augers to following the original well borehole. Once over-drilled,these wells will be
grouted in the same manner as the vertical wells.
p
Wells SVE-033, SVE-011, and SVME-021 wi]I be destroyed by pressure grouting.
SVE-033 and SVE-011 wells were last sampled in May 2012 and reported non-detect
for all constituents of concern (Geosyntec, 2012a). SVME-021 has not been sampled
but is adjacent to SVE-011. Further, these wells are not above the known groundwater
contamination as reported by Environmental Data Resources (ERM) Groundwater
Monitoring Report Semi-Annual Sampling— June 2013 and shown on Figure 2. The
remaining wells are above a known area of residual contamination or recorded
e ectlons in groundwater or soil gas during the last sampling event and will be
destroyed b the complete over-drill method. Changes due to field conditions in the
we estruction methodology will be communicated to and approved by CVRWQB and
SJCEHD prior to implementation.
Soil and investigation derived waste from over drilling will be containerized in DOT
approved 55- gallon drums or other container(i.e., lined and covered roll-off boxes).
The soil cuttings will be characterized and disposed of in accordance with all local,
state, and federal laws following decommissioning activities.
Prior to and in between each location, the hollow stem augers will be decontaminated
utilizing a pressure washer. Decontamination water will be collected and containerized
in DOT approved 55- gallon drums and staged on-Site. Decontamination water will be
characterized and property disposed of following decommissioning activities.
System Decommissioning and Well Destruction Work Plan 8 07/182014
