PRELIMINARY ASSESSMENT SUMMARY <br /> (BP STATION #172/THRIFTY OIL, COUNTY OF SAN JOAQUIN) <br /> I. Site Information <br /> A. Location and Description of Site - <br /> 7647 Pacific Avenue, Stockton,BP Station #172 (formerly Thrifty <br /> Oil) located at the intersections of Pacific Avenue, Thornton <br /> Road and Lower Sacramento Road. Previous reports indicate <br /> that single walled steel tanks have been in service for over <br /> 27 years. <br /> B. Description of Hazardous Wastes and Substances <br /> Recent analyses of soil and groundwater samples indicate <br /> benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, total petroleum hydrocarbons, <br /> and other E.P.A. listed chemicals have been detected. No <br /> lateral extent of contamination has been determined. <br /> C. Threat to Public Health and Environment <br /> Contamination (hydrocarbon) was found to exist in both soil <br /> and groundwater. The main pathway for contamination migration <br /> is be groundwater. It is undetermined whether or not domestic <br /> or municipal wells are affected. <br /> II . Site Status <br /> A. Status of Site Activity <br /> British Petroleum Company Station #172 has entered into the <br /> Local Oversight Program and has no recommendations for further <br /> work at this time. <br /> B. Projected Revenue Sources <br /> BP will pay all costs associated with site investigations and <br /> cleanup. <br />
