In general,
groundwater occurs under the site at depths ranging from 37 32 feet below top of casing (btc) in
' monitoring well MW-4 to 39 58 feet btc in monitoring well MW-6 (Appendix A) A
groundwater elevation contour map based upon November 26, 2003, data is presented as Figure
' 2 Groundwater appears to flow to the southwest at an approximate hydraulic gradient ranging
from 0 0130 to 0 0286 feet/foot The flow direction in the third quarter was to the east-southeast
' The groundwater extraction system was shut down on November 25, 2003, for quarterly water
sampling and restarted on December 1, 2003 after the water-sampling event Based on the
decline in the depth to water levels for most wells, it is possible that shutting the system down
' only one day prior to the quarterly sampling event may have affected the groundwater flow
direction and gradient Thrifty will request that EMC shut the system down at least one week
prior to monitoring in the first quarter 2004
'
Quarterly uarterl Groundwater Sampling
' As part of the groundwater-monitoring program, groundwater samples were obtained from
monitoring wells MW-3 through MW-11 (except MW-8, which was abandoned) Groundwater
' Q
13116 Imphal Highway, Santa Fe Springs, CA 90670 9 (562) 921-3581
