In general,groundwater
occurs under the site at depths ranging from 36 61 feet below top of casing(TOC)in monitoring well
MW-5 to 39 26 feet bgs in monitoring well MW-6(Appendix A) A groundwater elevation contour
map based upon August 20,2003,data is presented as Figure 2 Groundwater appears to flow to the
east-southeast at an approximate hydraulic gradient ranging from 0 0021 to 0 003 feet/foot
The groundwater extraction system was shut down on August 18,2003,for quarterly water sampling
and restarted on August 21, 2003 after the water-sampling event It is likely from the groundwater
elevation data that shutting the system down two days pnor to the quarterly sampling event allowed
the water levels to rebound to reach static levels
Quarterly Groundwater Sampling
As part of the groundwater-monitoring program, groundwater samples were obtained from
monitoring wells MW-3 through MW-11 (except MW-8, which was abandoned) Groundwater
samples were obtained by EMC on August 20,2003,and delivered in a chilled state,in an ice chest,
following strict Chain-of-Custody procedures to a state certified laboratory These samples were
• analyzed for volatile aromatic compounds benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes(BTEX)and
Qo
13116 imperial Highway, Santa Fe Springs, CA 90670•(562) 921-3581
