• Second Quarter 2004 <br /> ' Thrifty#172 <br /> July 14, 2004 <br /> ' Page 3 <br /> Influent and effluent vapor samples were collected on April 20, May 4, and June 8 In addition, <br /> ' vapor samples were collected on May 4, 2004, from selected well heads The well head, influent, <br /> and effluent vapor samples were analyzed for TPHg by EPA Method 8015, and BTEX/MTBE by <br /> EPA Method 8021B Field Status Reports are included in Appendix C Copies of the influent, <br /> ' effluent, and well head vapor sample laboratory analytical results are presented in Appendix D <br /> A historical summary of hydrocarbons removed by vapor extraction is presented in Table 3, vapor <br /> ' sample analytical results for the individual wells sampling are presented in Table 5 <br /> Groundwater Treatment System <br /> ' The groundwater treatments system tem was started in conjunction with the vapor treatment system on <br /> April 26, 2001, and the flow meter started at zero Presently, the remediation system is <br /> ' connected to groundwater well MW-11 A down-well pneumatic pump draws water into a 150- <br /> gallon polyvinyl tank, which then transfers the water through two (2) one thousand-pound <br /> granular activated carbon canisters in series <br /> During the reporting period, the system was shut down on the following dates April 13 though <br />' April 26 and restarted on April 26, 2004 for carbon change out, May 4 restarted on May 7, 2004 <br /> for quarterly sampling, and May 27 restarted on June 3, 2004 for carbon change out A total of <br /> 51,777 gallons of water were treated and discharged during the reporting period, and 282,124 <br /> gallons had been treated and discharged since the commencement of groundwater treatment <br /> Historical groundwater system operations are reported in Table 4 and 4b, and the quarterly <br /> analytical results are presented in Appendix E <br /> 1 Summary and Recommendations <br /> The soil vapor and groundwater extraction systems were started on April 26, 2001 A total of <br /> 89,029 pounds of hydrocarbons have been destroyed by the vapor extraction system, and 282,124 <br /> gallons of groundwater have been treated by the groundwater system Due to declining dissolved <br /> hydrocarbon concentrations in other onsite wells, Thrifty focused groundwater cleanup efforts <br /> only on well MW-11 during the reporting period <br />
