4 <br /> Fourth Quarter 2005 <br /> Thrifty#172 <br /> Page 4 <br /> As of December 29, 2005, a total of 153,215 pounds of hydrocarbons have been removed by the <br /> soil vapor extraction (SVE) unit (Table 3) The system was down from October 18, 2005 to <br /> December 12, 2005 for change to catalytic mode During the current reporting period, the system <br /> operated for 842 hours and removed 321 pounds of hydrocarbon for a removal rate of 0 38 <br /> pounds per hour Overall, the hydrocarbon removal rate is 5 33 pounds per hour as of December <br /> 29, 2005 Field Status Reports are included in Appendix C and air analytical results are <br /> provided in Appendix D <br /> A historical summary of hydrocarbons removed by vapor extraction is presented in Table 3, vapor <br /> sample analytical results for the individual wells sampling are presented in Table 5 <br /> Groundwater Treatment System <br /> The groundwater treatment system was started in conjunction with the vapor treatment system on <br /> April 26, 2001, and the flow meter started at zero Presently, the remediation system is <br /> connected to groundwater well MW-11 A down-well pneumatic pump draws water into a 150- <br /> gallon polyvinyl tank, which then transfers the water through two (2) one thousand-pound <br /> granular activated carbon canisters in series <br /> During the reporting period, the system was shut down for repairs due to vandalism on <br /> September 27,2005 and was not restarted during the current reporting period A total of 582,804 <br /> gallons has been treated and discharged since the commencement of groundwater treatment <br /> through December 31, 2005 Historical groundwater system operations are reported in Table 4a <br /> and 4b <br /> Summary and Recommendations <br /> The soil vapor and groundwater extraction systems were started on April 26, 2001 A total of <br /> 153,215 pounds of hydrocarbons have been destroyed by the vapor extraction system, and <br /> 582,804 gallons of groundwater have been treated by the groundwater system The SVE system <br /> was switched to catalytic mode during the current quarter and the groundwater portion of the <br /> system is still down for repairs <br /> I <br /> Closing Comments <br /> Thrifty will continue quarterly groundwater monitoring, gauging, purging, and sampling of the <br /> groundwater monitoring wells, and operation of the remediation system <br />
