Wilma Ave.
Ripon, CA 95366 r,zz
- ..Dear;Mr. Machado:
CLAIM NO. 13010 - 1040 MOFFAT BLVD.,RIPON - COST PREAPPROVAL
I have reviewed all the information which you have submitted requesting cost preapproval of
proposed corrective action activities at the subject site. The proposed activities are specific to the
removal, through overexcavation, of petroleum contaminated soil. In addition, I have discussed
the subject site with representatives of San Joaquin County Health Department.
Based on the information submitted, I am able to preapprove the amount of up to $75,000.00.
The total amount requested was for $79,880.00. However, this amount included work associated
with the abandonment of existing groundwater monitoring wells. It is the Fund's experience that
local oversight agencies typically require a minimum of sampling of existing monitoring wells
following an episode of excavation to determine the effectiveness of the remedial process. As
such, the costs of any monitoring well abandonment may be resubmitted for preapproval
consideration at a future, more appropriate, time.
This preapproval is specific to those costs and activities as submitted in your June 4, 1999 letter,
with attachments,to Ms. Yulya Davidova of this office.
If you have any questions, you may contact me at (916) 227-4430:
Sincerely,
James Munch, Chief
Technical Review, Special Projects Unit
cc:,Margaret Lagorio, SJCHD'
California Environmental Protection Agency
a Recycled Paper
t
