(ERI) on your behalf
for the above-referenced site. In the work plan, ERI proposes the installation of one two-
inch diameter groundwater monitoring well (MW7) screened between approximately 128
and 138 feet below ground surface (bgs) located onsite between the domestic well and the
former cone penetration testing (CPT) boring CPT1. EHD has recommended such a
monitoring well be installed to target the permeable unit identified from the pore pressure
and lithologic log for CPTI.
EHD approves the work plan as submitted for the installation of MW7 to monitor
chemicals of concern detected in grab groundwater samples collected from CPT1 at
depths between 135 and 138 feet bgs. The boring will be advanced using sonic drilling
equipment and soil samples will be collected at a minimum of five-foot intervals from
surface grade to approximately 50 feet bgs and from approximately 120 feet bgs to total
depth of approximately 138 feet bgs, while continuously collecting soil samples from five
feet above the proposed screen interval to total depth for proper well screen placement.
Selected soil samples collected during the well installation and groundwater samples
collected during the quarterly groundwater sampling events will be analyzed for total
petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPHg); benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene,
and total xylenes (BTEX); 1,2-dichloroethane (1,2-DCA), 1,2-dibromoethane (EDB),
methyl tertiary-butyl ether (MTBE), ethyl tertiary-butyl ether (ETBE), tertiary-amyl
methyl ether(TAME), di-isopropyl ether(DIPE), and tertiary butyl alcohol (TBA).
EHD has issued permits 0052027, 0052032, and 0052033 for the installation of
monitoring wells MW6 and MW7, and advancement of cone penetration testing (CPT)
borings CPT2, CPT3, and CPT4. ERI has notified EHD that fieldwork is scheduled for
October 8 through 17,2007.
