Present at the
meeting were Kevin Meeks and Pat Meeks,Paul Dotsun representing Advanced
GeoEnvironmental,Inc. (AGE),and Jeffrey Wong and Margaret Lagotio representing
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD). The following is a
summary of the discussion at the meeting.
Groundwater samples were collected in March 2003. A report of findings was not
submitted to EHD,but the analytical results were electronically transmitted to the California
State Water Resources Control Board Geotracker website
(http://w%v\v.geottacker.swrcb.ca.gov),and a copy of the laboratory results were submitted
to EHD by facsimile on October 12,2003. Analytical results of the groundwater samples
from monitoring well MW-1 were 2.5 micrograms per liter (ug/1) of benzene, 320 ug/1 of
methyl-tert-butyl ether (MTBE), and 21 ug/1 of 1,2-dichloroethane (1,2-DCA). Results of
the southernmost monitoring well MW-3 were 6.7 ug/1 of benzene, 220 ug/l of MTBE, and
36 ug/l of 1,2-DCA. The California Department of Health Services (DHS) has established
primary maximum contaminant levels (MCLs) for drinking water for benzene at 1 ug/l,
MTBE at 13 ug/1, and 1,2-DCA at 0.5 ug/l.
The groundwater flow gradient at the site has been consistently toward the southeast. Due
to the presence of multiple private drinking water wells in the down-gradient direction along
Highway 99 Frontage Road and East Calimyrna Road, the contamination plume may be
migrating towards the private drinking water wells because of their collective pumping
influence and is a threat to these wells. You are directed to collect and analyze water
samples from the four closest neighboring drinking wells by November 20, 2003. The
addresses of the four parcels with wells to be sampled are:
25362 Highway 99
25272 Highway 99
25144 Highway 99
4141 East Calimyrna
