NOW
15 July 2004
AGE-NC Project No. 98-0540
3.3. MONITORING WELL PILOT BORING ADVANCEMENT
Based on ground water contamination encountered at the site, AGE proposes installation of
additional ground water monitoring wells to complete assessment and confirm lateral definition of
the petroleum hydrocarbon-impacted ground water in the following locations:
• Approximately 75 feet southeast of well MW-3, on the subject property; and
• Approximately 100 feet east-southeast of well MW-3, across the Frontage Road from the
subject site. This well will be placed down-gradient of the dissolved contaminant plume and
provide a"sentinel" location for domestic wells located east of the site.
The proposed ground water monitoring well borings will be advanced to approximately 90 feet bsg
utilizing a truck-mounted,hollow stem drill rig equipped with 8-inch diameter hollow-stem augers.
Total depths of borings may vary according to hydrogeologiclgeologic conditions encountered during
drilling. AGE does not anticipate analysis of soil samples from either well pilot boring. Procedures
for monitoring well pilot boring advancement are presented in Section 4.2.
3.4. WELL COMPLETION, DEVELOPMENT AND SURVEY
Following drilling of each soil boring, ground water monitoring wells will be installed within the
borehole. Following well installation, each well will be developed to maximize water flow and
minimize the amount of fine-grained sediment drawn into the well during pumping or bailing and
each well will be surveyed by a state licensed surveyor.Procedures for well installation, development
and surveying are presented in Sections 4.3 and 4.4, respectively.
3.5. GROUND WATER SAMPLE COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS
Ground water monitoring and sampling of each newly installed ground water monitoring well will
be conducted on a quarterly basis unless an alternate schedule or suspension of monitoring is
approved by the EHD. Ground water monitoring activities will include recording depth to ground
water measurements and collection of ground water samples. Ground water sample collection
procedures are described in section 4.5.
Ground water samples will be analyzed by a State of California DHS-certified laboratory for the
following constituents:
• TPH-g in accordance with EPA Methods 8015 Modified/5030 and 8015 Modified/3550,
respectively;
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
