' 22 August 2000
AGE-NC Project No 98-0540
A r j
• Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPH-g) In accordance with EPA
' Methods 5030/8015m,
• Volatile aromatic hydrocarbons benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and total xylenes (BTEX)
and methyl tertiary-butyl ether(MTBE) in accordance with EPA Method 602/8020, and
'
• Oxygenated fuel additives MTBE tertiary ary butyl alcohol (TBA), di-isopropyl ether(DIPE),
' ethyl tertiary butyl ether(ETBE), and tertiary amyl methyl ether(TAME) in accordance with
EPA Method 8260-Modified
y I
3.0. FINDINGS
Ground water elevation and flow direction were deducted from field data, hydrocarbon-Impact to
ground water was assessed by laboratory analysis of the ground water samples
I
3 1 GROUND WATER GRADIENT AND'FLOW DIRECTION
The relative elevation of ground water in each well was calculated by subtracting the depth to ground
water from the surveyed relative casing elevations (Table 1) Depths to ground water ranged from
I 72 24 feet to 72 33 feet below the tops of the well casings Ground water elevations at the site ranged
from 15 55 feet in MW-1 to 15 59 in MW-3 below mean sea level The ground water gradient was
calculated to be 0 002 ft/ft directed N 62° E
32 ANALYTICAL RESULTS OF WATER SAMPLES
TPH-g was detected in the ground water samples collected from MW-1 and MW-3 at concentrations
of 2,600 micrograms per liter (4g/1) and 440,ug/l, respectively
The BTEX compounds were detected in the groundwater samples collected form MW-1 and MW-3
at concentrations as high as 27 4g11, 15 Mg/l, 56 µg/l, and 310 gg/l, respectively
IMTBE was not detected above laboratory reporting limits by EPA Method $020 or 8260 in any of
the ground water samples collected and analyzed TBA was detected in the ground water sample
collected from MW-1 at a concentration of 32 ,ug/l No other fuel oxygenated compounds were
detected above laboratory reporting limits (Table 2)
No contaminants were detected above laboratory reporting limits in the' ground water sample
• collected from the domestic well on site
Advanced GeoEnvironnmental,Inc
I i F
f
