ARCO Products Company • 2 <br /> ARCO Service station#595,6200 North Highway94,Stockton,CA February 28,2000 <br /> • twenty-one samples with concentrations ranging from 1 94 mg/kg (PL-5@4 5') to <br /> 11,300 mg/kg (OPL-3@4 5') Benzene was reported in fifteen samples at <br /> concentrations ranging from 0 0316 mg/kg (PL-2@7') to 48 3 mg/kg (D-4@5') MtBE <br /> was reported in fourteen of the samples ranging in concentration from 0 110 mg/kg (VL- <br /> 3@3') to b 47 mg/kg (D-1@3') TBA, DIPE, EtBE, TAME, 1,2 DCA, and EDB were <br /> reported as nondetect in all samples Approximately 189 tons of soil generated dunng <br /> the removal of the underground facilities and the trenching for new piping was disposed <br /> of at BFI Landfill in Livermore, CA <br /> PROPOSED SCOPE OF WORK <br /> The scope of work for this site assessment will include the installation of four <br /> groundwater monitoring wells and the drilling of two soil borings with the possible <br /> installation of soil vapor extraction wells in the soil borings at the locations shown on <br /> Figure 2 The wells and borings have been proposed to evaluate the vertical and lateral <br /> extent of petroleum hydrocarbons in soil and groundwater beneath the product lines and <br /> dispensers <br /> As required by the Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) Standard <br /> "Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response" guidelines (29 CFR <br /> 1910 120), and by California Occupational Health and Safety Administration <br /> (Cal-OSHA) "Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response" guidelines (CCR <br /> Title 8, Section 5192), SECOR has prepared a Site-Specific Health and Safety Plan prior <br /> to the commencement of fieldwork The Site-Specific Health and Safety Plan will be <br /> reviewed by the field staff and contractors before beginning field operations at the site <br /> and is included as Attachment B <br /> The specific scope of work is discussed below <br /> • Soil Borings and SVE Well Installation. Two soil borings will be <br /> dnlled at the locations shown on Figure 2 Soil borings will be drilled <br /> to a minimum depth of 40 feet bgs or until three consecutively "clean" <br /> soil samples are collected Borings will be drilled using 8-inch <br /> diameter hollow-stem auger Upon completion of drilling, a 2-inch <br /> diameter soil vapor extraction well may be installed in selected borings <br /> depending on field observations If PTD readings or other subjective <br /> field data suggest the presence of significant concentrations of <br /> hydrocarbons in soil, a SVE well will be installed in that boring <br /> Borings in areas where field data suggest no obvious hydrocarbon <br /> impact will be backfilled with cement grout from the bottom of the <br /> boring to the surface <br /> • Groundwater Monitoring Wells.
