Kennedy/Jenks Consultants
be compiled and reviewed to assess the ambient water quality conditions in the vicinity of the
Facility.
This task will also include additional site reconnaissance to more specifically evaluate potential
locations for completion of CPTs.
2.2 Task 2 - Onsite and Off-site Groundwater Sampling
Onsite and offsite water supply wells and other existing wells will be sampled to provide data on
the lateral and vertical distribution of COCs. If accessible, existing offsite wells within a 1-mile
radius of the Facility will be sampled to further characterize ambient groundwater quality in the
vicinity of the Facility.
Under this task, we will first canvas all existing agriculture and domestic water supply wells from
records kept in the County and the DWR. Each well will be evaluated for its suitability for
groundwater sampling. This data will augment onsite data and provide a reconnaissance level
delineation of the spatial distribution of CDCs.
2.3 Task 3 - Proposed Cone Penetrometer and HydropunchTM
Groundwater Investigations
2.3.1 Upgradient Investigation
This task will facilitate investigation of upgradient ground water, primarily in the areas east of
Facility. The focus of the proposed CPT/HydropunchTM locations (CPT1 through CPT4) will be
on surveying the subsurface stratigraphy by interpretation of CPT data and sampling the
groundwater for chemical analysis using a HydropunchTM or equivalent probe. Kennedy/Jenks
believes that potential offsite source(s) located just east of monitoring wells MW-6 and MW-7
could have influenced groundwater quality beneath the LAA within the Facility. Three additional
CPT locations (CPT11 through CPT13) are planned on an as-needed basis to assess
upgradient groundwater conditions at further distances from the LAA onsite than provided by
CPT 1 through 4.
2.3.2 Downgradient Investigation
CPT locations CPT6 though CPT10 will be used to characterize groundwater conditions in the
area downgradient of the Facility. Although CPT6 and CPT7 can be considered to be located
hydraulically crossgradient, their results combined with results from CPT8, CPT9, and CPT10
will provide an aggregate picture of groundwater quality just west of the Facility. The locations of
CPT9 and CPT10 will provide an assessment of downgradient water quality, in general
comparison to downgradient well MW-5 conditions. These CPT locations are proposed at
sufficient distances away from the LAA within the Facility, and can provide an important
depiction of groundwater quality that may have been influenced by past or recent onsite land
application treatment activities.
Groundwater Investigation Work Plan Page 14
Barrel Ten Quarter Circle Winery, Escalon, California
g:Vs-groupladminGob1031030118.08_barreltenl0Peportslgw invest wrk pinVeddoc
