(Apex) has been authorized by E. R. Vines and Sons, Inc. to submit this
report documenting the results of soil sampling during the upgrade of the dispenser pans at the
subject property.
Once the dispensers were removed from the site, GeoAnalytical Laboratories, Inc. (Geo)
personnel collected one soil sample from approximately 2-feet below each of the ten dispensers.
The soil sample locations are shown on the Site Plan included as Attachment I. All of the soil
samples were then transported under chain-of-custody documentation to Geo, a State-certified
analytical laboratory. The samples were analyzed for: total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH) as
gasoline by EPA Method 5030; TPH as diesel by EPA Method 3550; benzene, toluene, ethyl
benzene and total xylenes by EPA Method 8021B; and MTBE, TBA, D1PE, ETBE, TAME and
ethanol by EPA Method 8260B. The laboratory analytical results are summarized in Table I
(Attachment II). A Copy of the laboratory analytical report and the chain-of-custody form are
also included as Attachment M.
Apex proposes to conduct additional soil excavation in all locations exhibiting concentrations of
petroleum hydrocarbons and/or additives above the laboratory detection limits. No more than 75
cubic yards of soil will be removed during this phase of excavation. Soil samples will be
collected from the base of each excavation and analyzed for the constituents detected in the
initial sample collected from the respective location.
The information contained within this report reflects our professional opinions and was
developed in accordance with currently available information, and accepted geologic and
engineering practices. This report was prepared solely for the use of E. R. Vine and Sons, Inc.
