Box 2009 <br /> 1601 East' Hazelton Avenue <br /> Stockton, CA 95201 <br /> SUBJECT: PHASE IV SUBSURFACE INVESTIGATION <br /> !; Montgomery Ward Auto Service Center <br /> 5400 Pacific Avenue, Stockton <br /> Site Code 2163 <br /> Dear Mr. Infurna: <br /> Enclosed herewith for your review are two (2) copies of our <br /> report entitled "PHASE IV Subsurface Investigation, Montgomery <br /> Ward Auto Service Center, 5400 Pacific Avenue, Stockton, <br /> California" , dated August 18, 1992 . <br /> The results of the investigation show that elevated <br /> concentrations of total petroleum hydrocarbon, toluene, xylenes <br /> and ethylbenzene were detected only in soil samples collected <br /> from boring B-9 at a depth of 15 through 30 feet. The existing <br /> petroleum hydrocarbon in the soil sample collected from boring <br /> B-9 at a depth of 30 feet was characterized as heavy naphtalky <br /> BC laboratory. <br /> During drilling and sampling activities associated with <br /> borings B-6 and B-9, a strong solvent odor was noted. No <br /> gasoline odors were noted in the field.
