Your decision to accept annual
sampling is conditional upon implementing monitoring well replacements as needed
and the placement of soil borings in the areas just north of MW-10 and MW-11 at the
end of the two year sampling period.
On September 17, 1996, the annual sampling and monitoring events began. This will
be the start of the two year period and annual events will be during September of
1997 and 1998. The report of each event is to be submitted to PHS-EHD by the
following December 1 of the same year.
At the end of the two year period (September 1998), each well with the depth to
water above the screened interval is to be replaced with a new monitoring well as
described in a workplan to be submitted by November 12, 1998. Included in this
workplan should be a proposal to place additional soil borings in the areas of B-4, B-
5, and MW-2 as well as the areas immediately up-gradient of MW-11 and MWA0.
PHS-EHD review will be immediate and the well(s) and soil borings should be
installed by February 5, 1999.
According to Delta College maintenance personnel, the irrigation well for the campus
is scheduled to start its pumping routine in late February or early March. PHS-EHD
will require UNOCAL to sample this well at the very end of the pumping cycle (about
5:30 am) just prior to its shutdown at 6 am.
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
