M & M STONE, INC.
DRAFT JUSTIFICATIONSTATEMENT SEP 2 2 1992
September 15, 1992 ENVIRONMENTAL HE/LTH
PERMIT/SERVICES
SITE: Former UNOCAL Station No. 5098
5606 Pacific Avenue
Stockton, California
This report is written according to the consensus reached during a meeting at
the Environmental Division office an February 7, 1992, regarding the final
disposition of monitoring wells (MW) #3, 4, 5, and 9, on the subject property.
February 7. 1992 Meeting
In the meeting, Stone Bros. agreed to prepare a "Draft Justification
Statement" regarding the feasibility of locating and properly destroy-
ing MW4 and MW5, given the fact that a new commercial building has
since been erected on the site. Stone Bros. also agreed to research
its records, and speak with its construction personnel about Stone
Bros. construction work on the new parking lot and building in the
areas of MW3 and MW9 to ascertain whether any evidence was found, or
contact made with either of these wells.
Attending the February 7, 1992 meeting were the following:
A. Environmental Health Division:
Diane Hinson
Michael Infurna
B. Stone Bros. & Associates:
Jay Allen Mary Jensen
Ted Wittmayer Wayne Richmond
Brooke Birke (Neumiller & Beardslee)
C. UNOCAL:
Jerry Mason Ralph Legg
Ron Bock (Kaprealian Engineering) Lois Ellen Goltz
Tim Ross (Kaprealian Engineering)
Two major issues were discussed: (1) Disposition of the existing
wells, and (2) Water contamination remediation plan. Regarding the
disposition of existing wells, there was general agreement that MW4
and MW5 were most likely destroyed in the initial site excavation,
ramping, and grading which was completed according to KEI's approved
remediation plan for UNOCAL between September 19, 1988 and December
12, 1988.
b: \mwj-#12\Site-Rep.ort
Printed: September 22, 1992 Page 1
