Ms. Diane Hinson
March 4, 1991
page two
2. Make necessary repairs to all groundwater monitoring wells which
are salvageable. All vadose zone wells originally installed by
Kleinfelder, and all monitoring wells found to be unsalvageable
will be properly destroyed after applicable permits are obtained.
It is understood that at least two of the monitoring wells (MW-4
and MW-5 ) were buried underneath the recently constructed office
building. Furthermore, monitoring wells MW-1 and MW-7 were
properly abandoned and destroyed during the soil remediation
activities conducted from 9/88 - 12/88.
3. Conduct a detailed review of available records concerning other
environmental investigations (past or present) in the general
area. This information will assist us in determining the
placement of monitoring wells to delineate the extent of
groundwater contamination, if deemed necessary.
4. Prepare a technical report summarizing the activities mentioned
above. The report will present both gradient information and
analytical results obtained from accessible monitoring wells,
assess file information as it relates to this site, and make
recommendations for any further work, if deemed necessary.
PHASE II
1 . Phase II will consist of actions necessary to comply with the
recommendations presented in the Phase I technical report, as
agreed to with the appropriate regulatory agencies.
The first step in this process will be obtaining access to the
property from the current property owner (i.e. Stone Bros. ) . I would
anticipate the report being completed within 4-6 weeks from the date
that formal access is received. If any unexpected difficulties
arise, I will notify your department immediately.
I trust this letter accurately summarizes the items agreed to in our
meeting. If there are any questions or comments, please feel free to
call me @ (415 ) 277-2303.
Sincerely,
Ronald E. Bock
Environmental Engineer
attachment
cc : J. E.
