Paul Yamamoto of <br /> Unocal . Although we fully intend to comply with the conditions <br /> of the permit, I have several comments which are intended to <br /> clarify those conditions: <br /> • Our rationale for screening only five feet above the <br /> encountered water table is based on installation of the <br /> well during the highest water level period of the year; <br /> however if the County desires screening ten foot above <br /> the encountered water table, we do not see any technical <br /> constraints to this condition. The only exception to <br /> this design requirement would be in situations where the <br /> first aquifer is found to be under confined conditions. <br /> Screening above the water table in such cases could <br /> result in cross contamination and therfore such practices <br /> are not followed by our firm.
