Rex Bassett yprnwq
SEP 16 1985
Subject: UNION OIL STATION ENVIROMENTAL HEALTH
5606 PACIFIC AVENUE FERMIT/SERVICES
STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA
Gentlemen:
As per your request, our firm Grilled one boring at the sub-
ject site . The scope of our work was as follows:
1 . Obtain necessary county permits for the proposed
work.
2 . Drill, obtain soil sample and water samples .
3 . Have the soil and water samples analyzed for
hydrocarbons .
On August 13, 1985, our personnel obtained an application for
a permit from San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department for
drilling and sampling from our firm then traveled to the site and
drilled, obtained soil samples at a location chose by a county repre-
sentative . The bore hole was located near the center of a partially
backfilled excavation where a fuel storage tank had been removed.
The bore hole was drilled to a total depth of 44 .5 feet below
the excavated surface which was approximately three feet below
ground surface. Free groundwater was encountered at approximately
43 feet below the surface.
Three soil samples were obtained from throughout the boring.
These samples were obtained using a Modified California Sampler
using brass sleeves . The sleeves containing the soil samples
were removed from the sampler . Aluminum foil was placed over both
ends of the sleeve and the sleeve was capped using a tight fitting
plastic cap . The samples were then stored in a cold atmosphere
until delivery to the analytical laboratory . The soil samples were
then delivered by our personnel to Canonie Engineers of Stockton
for hydrocarbon content analysis . The results of these analyses
are attached to this report.
OTHER OFFICES:
Fairfield • Sacramento 9 Walnut Creek • Fresno • Merced • Reno • Las Vegas • 51. George, Utah
