Eff.0
Montgomery Ward Auto Service Center Phone# Phone# 3 S
5400 Pacific Avenue '
Stockton, California 95207 Fax# ` s Fax#
Site Code 2163
Dear Mr. Infutna: -
Pursuant to our telephone conversation, this revised Work Plan supersedes the previously _
submitted Phase VII Subsurface Investigation Work Plan for the Montgomery Ward Auto
Service Center site, 5400 Pacific Avenue, Stockton, California dated September 8, 1995.
1.0 PROPOSED WORK
The proposed field work as outlined below will be conducted in two phases: 1) drilling of
four borings and obtaining and analyzing four HydroPunch groundwater samples; and 2)
installation and sampling of two new ground water monitoring wells, the locations of which
will be based on the analytical test results of water samples collected using the HydroPunch. - -
1-1 HydroPunch
Montgomery Ward proposes to use the HydroPunch technique to obtain ground water samples
at the four proposed locations as shown in Figure 1. These locations were selected in order to
a4lempt to define the down-gradient extent of dissolved phase hydrocarbons in ground water
south and east of existing ground water monitoring wells MW-5 and MW-6.
A truck-mounted, direct push rig (Stramprobe) will be used to drill the boring necessary to
install the HydroPunches. Soil samples will be collected from each boring location
commencing at five feet below ground surface (bgs) and at five-foot intervals thereafter until
termination. The borings will be logged in accordance with the Unified Soil Classification
System. It is anticipated that no soil samples will be retained for analytical testing, since soil
contamination was not encountered in the most down=eradient wells currently present at the
site.
SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY
PUBLIC HEALTH SERVICES
PLANNING.ENVIRONMENTAL
EEHAZARDOUS UBSTES MANAGEMENT AND REMEDIATION ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH DIVISION
P.0.
