At or about <br /> five feet below ground surface, old medical vials and bottles were encountered. Drilling ceased, the College was <br /> notified, and then the San Joaquin County PHS-EHD and RWQCB were notified. A former State of California <br /> Mental Hospital was located within the boundaries of the College. <br /> The College will begin excavation work on Tuesday, November 13, 2001, under the direction of K.C. Foley of the <br /> San Joaquin County PHS-EHD, to attempt to determine the extent of the problem.
