i
1 Former Unocal/Wards
1 3 ' 23 February 2005
5400-5606 Pacific Ave., Stockton
1 John said that the ENSR technicians are experiencing chlorinated solvent odors when opening monitoring wells, and
asked me if there were any dry cleaners or other possible sources for the smells. I asked ENSR to contact their
laboratory and look at the chromatographs for the EPA Method 8260B to identify possible Tentatively Identified
1 Compounds (TICS), and report any TICS for chlorinated solvents to me. I mentioned the 6600 block of Pacific Ave as
an active tetrachloroethylene(PCE)groundwater cleanup site(Lincoln Center), and added that Lincoln Center is over
a mile to the north of their site, but that there are sewers extending along Pacific Avenue. John suggested that there
1 might be a connection due to vapor intrusion through soil. I suggested that ENSR set up a file review of Lincoln
Center at our office. Subsequently in a conversation with Mike Infuma, SJCEHD on 7 February 2005, he identified a
potential former dry cleaner facility adjacent to Unocal. David Stavarek of my office suggested using Dragger tubes
1 for verification of gases when opening well caps. On 10 February 2005 Mike Infurna and I visited the One Hour
Martinizing at 5756 Pacific Ave. The proprietress stated that they had stopped using PCE over 4 years ago.
1 The meeting ended at 1440 hours.
1
i
i
i
1
1
1
1
1
i
1 California Environmental Protection Agency
PA Regwled Paper
