GHH Engineering, Inc. (GHH) proposes to proceed with the activities described
in the Workplan to Redevelop and Assess Well MW-1, dated September 1, 2004, with the
following exception.
A minimum of ten equivalent well volumes of groundwater will be purged from well MW-1 to
redevelop the well. A groundwater sample will be collected 24 hours after development in
accordance with our sampling protocol.
As we discussed, Mr. Mike Infurna with the San Joaquin County Environmental Health
Department is concerned that groundwater in the vicinity of MW-1 may be impacted as a result of
redevelopment activities. It is our opinion that swabbing the well and proper development
procedures will adequately reduce the potential for impacting groundwater. As you indicated,
Mr. Infurna also suggested that the list of analytes for the proposed groundwater sample include
PAHs and metals. GHH does not agree that PAHs or metals would be associated with the sealing
compound in question, however we will include these compound if directed to do so. Otherwise,
GHH proposes to analyze the groundwater sample for TPH G, TPH MO, and VOCs as described
in the September 1 Workplan.
With your approval, GHH is prepared to proceed with well redevelopment activities on Monday,
September 13, 2004, during other site inspection activities.
11960 Heritage Oak Place • Suite 2B •Auburn, CA. 95603 (530)886-3100 (800)877-1739 fax: (530)886-3108
