The Workplan recommends the
abandonment of groundwater monitoring well MW-9 and installation of replacement monitoring well MW-9R.
On 6 July 2004,I met with staff from ENSR, Stone Brothers and Associates (Stone Brothers) and their consultant
GHH Engineering to discuss Stone Brothers verbal request to abandon MW-9 due to new construction planned
for the fall of 2004. An addition to the existing building will be built over MW-9. I requested that the
replacement well MW-9R be installed approximately 10 feet to the northwest and outside of the footprint of the
addition to the building, so that quarterly monitoring could continue to provide the necessary groundwater data
for compliance with CAO No. 5-00-707,which requires plume definition. We agreed to the replacement of
MW-9 with MW-9R. Stone Brothers agreed to the proposed location and to provide protection for MW-9R
during construction.
The Workplan is approved as written with the following addition: Benzene, ethylbenzene, toluene, total xylenes,
and lead scavengers I,2-dichlororethane and ethylene dibromide will be analyzed by USEPA Method 8260B.
Please procure the appropriate drilling permits and give San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department
and myself at least 3 working days notice prior to commencement of fieldwork. Provide a report of the work as
an attachment in the next quarterly monitoring report.
You may call me at(916)464-4615 for questions or additional information.
iJJAMES L.
