This apparently is associated with a proposed restaurant, which will replace the auto service center.
EAI has discussed with Gary Hall relocation of the compound and the difficulties it poses. If the compound
must be moved, EAI requests that it be moved east of the driveway located approximately 100 feet east of the
compound's current location (i.e., approximately 125 to 150 feet east of its current location), and not across the
street to the former Unocal site. Gary will continue to work with Stone Brothers regarding the relocation issue,
and inform EAI as soon as a new location for the compound has been approved by Stone Brothers. Once the
new location is determined, EAI will begin to prepare the necessary permit applications, drawings, etc., to tie-in
Unocal wells to the remediation system, as directed in the RWQCB letter dated August 6, 2001. In EAI's
opinion, the UST Cleanup Fund will not reimburse the costs associated with relocating the compound.
Gary and I have also discussed potential impacts to the remedial system should the footprint for the restaurant
be different than that of the existing auto service center, e.g., possible relocation of wells. Information
regarding this issue will be provided as soon as it becomes available.
Steve
8/17/01
