r <br /> Results of CPT Investigation and Work flan <br /> Cleanup and Abatement Order No 5-00-707 EAI Project No 1232 <br /> 2.4 RESULTS OF CPT INVESTIGATION <br /> On November 13, 2000, three 150-foot deep CPT soundings (CPT-1 through CPT-3) were <br /> advanced around the RIW (see Figure 2) The CPTs were advanced, in accordance with ASTM <br />' standards (D3441), by Gregg In Situ, Inc (Gregg) under the supervision of EAI staff (Brent <br /> Mecham) and RWQCB staff(Marty Hartzell) The following parameters were recorded by the <br /> cones at 5-centimeter depth intervals for each of the three soundings, tip resistance, sleeve <br />' friction, and dynamic pore pressure Appendix A contains a copy of the Gregg report <br /> documenting the results obtained from the CPT soundings <br /> The information obtained from the CPTs advanced on November 13, 2000 were reviewed in <br /> the field by Brent Mecham of EAI and Marty Hartzell of the RWQCB, and based on this <br /> review, it was determined that discrete soil and ground water samples would be collected and <br />' tested from three new CPT borings (the new CPT borings to be drilled within 5-feet of the <br /> original CPT soundings), at the following depth intervals <br /> Soil Samples Ground Water Samples <br /> CPT ID No (feet below ground surface) (feet below ground surface) <br /> CPT-1 59 - 60 61 - 64 <br /> 81 — 82 84- 88 <br /> 101 — 102 <br /> CPT-2 57 - 58 60 - 63 <br /> 74 - 75 76 - 79 <br /> 107 — 108 89- 92 <br /> CPT-3 58 — 59 60- 63 <br />' 86 - 87 88 - 92 <br /> 99 — 100 1 101 - 104 <br /> 124 - 125 1 125 — 128 <br /> 1 The only evidence of any contamination on November 13, 2000, was a slight odor in soil at <br /> sounding location CPT-3 between depths of approximately 90 and 100 feet below ground <br /> surface (bgs) <br /> 1 <br /> Between November 14 and 15, 2000, three new CPT borings, also labeled CPT-1, CPT-2 and <br /> CPT-3, were advance within 5-feet of the CPT soundings advanced on November 13, 2000, for <br /> the purpose of collecting discrete soil and ground water samples for analytical testing at the <br /> depths listed above Boring CPT-1 terminated at 102 feet bgs, CPT-2 at 108 feet bgs, and CPT- <br /> 3 at 125 feet bgs Appendix B contains boring logs for these three CPT borings <br /> 2.1 Analytical Results <br /> The soil and ground water samples were tested for total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline <br /> (TPH-G) by modified EPA Method 8015, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) including, <br /> MTBE TBA, DIPS, ETBE, TAME, EDB, ethanol and methanol, by EPA Method 8260B <br /> .
