1 <br /> SOIL VAPOR EXTRACTION PILOT STUDY WORK PLAIN San Joaquin County <br /> Montgomery Ward Auto Service Center Public Health Services Department <br /> 5400 Pacific Avenue Stockton,CA Site Code 2153 <br />' 3 1 2 San Joaquin Valley Unified Air Pollution Control District <br /> Montgomery Ward will submit an application to the San Joaquin Valley Unified Air Pollution <br /> Control District (SJVUAPCD) for temporarily operating a vapor treatment unit (VTU) during <br />' the pilot study, or alternatively, use a VTU that is already permitted for temporary operation <br /> by the SJVUAPCD <br />' 3 1 3 City Of Stockton <br /> Montgomery Ward will obtain a permit from the City of Stockton for construction and <br />' installation of the equipment associated with the pilot study, e g , underground piping, <br /> aboveground equipment, treatment compound and a separate electrical utility pole for this <br /> project <br />' 3.2 TASK 2 - SUBSURFACE UTILITY CLEARANCE <br /> Montgomery Ward will coordinate with Underground Service Alert (USA) to delineate and <br /> mark all public utilities at the Montgomery Ward site in the areas affected by the pilot study <br /> A valid Digalert Notification number from USA will be maintained during the entire period of <br /> construction and installation of the pilot study equipment <br /> Following the USA notification and clearance, ground penetrating radar will be used to <br /> identify possible private utilities in the areas affected by the pilot study, if Montgomery Ward <br /> does not have maps of such utilities All utilities will be clearly marked on the ground surface <br /> using paint <br /> 3.3 TASK 3 - DESIGN OF PILOT VES <br /> 3 3 1 System Overview <br /> Figure 9 provides a simplified conceptual process flow diagram for the pilot study to be <br /> performed at the Montgomery Ward site Key elements of the design include <br /> ■ Extracting soil vapors from two vapor extraction wells, <br /> I ■ Treating extracted vapors using a thermal oxidizer, <br /> ■ Monitoring pressure at VES well and soil vapor probe locations, <br /> ■ Measuring the concentration of extracted vapors using field laboratory instruments, and <br /> ■ Measuring pressure readings and vapor concentrations as a function of time and <br /> distance <br />■ <br /> 3 32 Tarizeted Design Parameters <br /> The data obtained from field measurements will be used to calculate the following design <br /> parameters <br /> ■ Radius of Influence (RoI), <br />. ■ Soil Permeability (K), <br /> Effective vapor extraction equipment, <br /> ■ Effective vapor treatment equipment, <br /> Project No 1232 - 3 - ENVIRONMENTAL AUDIT INC <br />
