E11t®
Mr. Mike Infurna
FApril 26, 2004
Page 4
F,
Copies of the laboratory analytical results with chain-of-custody documentation are included in
Attachment D.
Waste
Non-hazardous purge water generated during first quarter 2004 groundwater monitoring and
sampling activities is temporarily stored on-site pending transport to Evergreen Oil Company in
FiNewark, Ca.
Discussion
Analytical results from wells MW-3, MW-11 and MW-12 indicate that the air sparge system
appears to be effective as evidenced by the decreasing TPHg and benzene concentrations. A
slight increase in TPHg was observed in well MW-2. Benzene concentrations in MW-2
decreased since the previous quarter. Hydrocarbon concentrations in these wells have
decreased overall since the beginning of remediation in October 1999.
Recommendations
ENSR recommends that pulsed operation of the AS system continue, and that further
groundwater sampling be performed to confirm the system's effectiveness.
Future Work
ENSR intends to perform a major service on the air compressor during the second quarter of
2004. ENSR hopes that by performing the necessary maintenance the system will be able to
run more effectively in the future. ENSR will continue to troubleshoot the treatment system in
1 order to limit system downtime. The second quarter groundwater monitoring and sampling is
scheduled for May 2004.
Remarks/Signatures
r The interpretations in this report represent our professional opinions and are based, in part, on
the information supplied by the client. These opinions are based on currently available
information and are arrived at in accordance with currently accepted hydrogeologic and
engineering practices at this time and location.
