This draft order is being
provided for your review and comment. Because staff concurred with the general approach
proposed by your consultant for the collection and analysis of additional data and the preparation
of a wastewater system and management plan, we have incorporated that plan into the draft
order. Please review the order and provide comments by 25 March 2004.
Yesterday afternoon, we received a letter via FAX from your consultant questioning the necessity
of issuing a CAO and requesting a meeting to discuss the issues involved. Staff agree that a
meeting with The Wine Group would be helpful, but still believe a CAO is appropriate. We have
contacted your consultant and are trying to schedule a meeting within the next week.
If you have any questions or wish to discuss the matter further, please contact Jim Martin at (916)
464-4685. If you have any questions regarding any other issues related to your Waste Discharge
Requirements (WDRs), please contact Tim O'Brien at (916) 464-4616.
WENDY WYELS, Chief
Waste Discharge to Land Unit
Enc: Draft Cleanup and Abatement Order
cc w/enc: Mike Huggins, San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department, Stockton
Robert S Chrobak, Kennedy/Jenks Consultants, San Francisco
California Environmental Protection Agency
Recycled Paper
