extraction (SVE)wells inside the C&S One Hour Martinizing dry cleaning facility
located at 5756 Pacific Ave. in Stockton. During our conversation you expressed a
concern that these wells could serve as a conduit for spilled dry cleaning solvents to
the vadose zone and potentially eventually reach down to groundwater below the site.
To minimize the chance of such an occurrence LFR is proposing to construct the wells
with the following features:
1. A well box that fits snuggly into a small (6") hole cored in the concrete slab to
reduce the circumference of the of the slab/grout interface.
2. A raised lid that will be above grade by approximately 1/8"to avoid liquid
infiltration that might occur with flush-mounted (or below-grade)well lid (see
sketch on Attachment 1 — if the lid specified in the sketch [Enviroequip FM 150]
is not be available, another small diameter lid will be used).
3. Use of an "Enviro Cap" casing plug that requires unique tool to remove cap (see
Attachment 2).
We propose to hand-auger the boreholes with a 4" bucket. The top 6"of the borehole
(possibly up to 24")will be 6" in diameter. The well will be constructed using standard
methods (not a pre-pack).
Please notify me if the wells as sketched and described here will meet with your
approval. I will have a check made out for$89.00 for the monitoring well permit plus
$315.00 for three hours of inspection time to the SJ County Environmental Health
Department along with a completed well permit application (please verify that these
are the correct fees). Thank you for your assistance with this project.
