1
Soil gas samples will be collected as a part of the confirmation sampling activities at the Site;
therefore, only temporary soil gas probes will be utilized. As mentioned previously, temporary soil
gas probes will be installed in the vicinity of the potential source areas identified in the
supplemental site assessment conducted by Miller Brooks. A direct-push sampling string will be
' hydraulically advanced to the target sampling depth by a truck-mounted drill rig. The sampling
string will be retracted to expose a perforated sampling tip that is connected to the surface with
inert tubing. The variation from TEG's SOP is that after the purge test has been completed,
' samples will be collected from each location using a summa canister provided by H&P. The
samples will be delivered, using a laboratory provided courier, to the H&P off-Site laboratory for
analysis at the end of each work day.
Each soil gas sample will be analyzed for VOCs using USEPA Method TO-15. H&P has done the
' necessary tests to demonstrate and be approved by the DTSC to report naphthalene (at a
lower detection limit) using TO-15. Therefore, the use of an off-Site mobile lab is necessary in
order to meet the lower detection limits. In the event where anomalous data are obtained, re-
sampling will be conducted.
Upon completion of sample collection, the temporary soil gas probes properly decommissioned.
' The probes will be removed at the end of each day with each sample location subsequently
backfilled in using hydrated granular bentonite.
1
1
1
1
' 8 M, LMV+ ROOKS
+/B C
1
